Your Guide to a Soulful Sunday for Busy Real Estate Professionals

In this crazy business of real estate you have to carve out time to work on you because when we take care of the whole human we show up better in business and better in life. 

So let’s do some soul care today! 

  • Step one: Play some music or a specific song that speaks to you, that one that could bring you to tears. (This is different than your pump up Monday motivation music 🎵)

  •  Step Two: Treat yourself to a beverage to cozy up to 

  •  Step Three: Burn some sage 

  • Step Four: Find a quite/clean corner 

  • Step Five: 5 min ➕ meditation 🧘🏽‍♂️ 

  •  Step Six: Journal 📓 : free write whatever comes to you or you can head to my highlights if you need a prompt 

  •  Step Seven: for the rest of the day make a conscious effort to practice gratitude (I do this by saying thank you to every single thing that I touch from the moment that I get up to brush my teeth and saying thank you for running water to getting in my car and driving and saying thank you that I can afford the luxury of driving a car) 

Attract your tribe by creating polarizing content

What the...... I know, this sounds silly! But hear me out. I recently listened to a podcast 🎙 and LOVED this advice. This specific individual specializes in making a BIG impact for small social media followings. She purposefully puts content out there that is so specific to her audience that it repels clients/customers/followers that do not align with their brand, values or mission.

Bigger (numbers/followers) is not always better. Make a bigger impact with your target audience because if you are speaking to everyone you are speaking to no one.

This means if the content is so authentically you - in your tone and with your look and the message is coming from a place of honesty of who you are - that’s magnetic content for your specific audience and allows you to talk directly to them. If your content is copied from someone else and you are just putting it up there because it’s trendy, even if you don’t really like it, then you are going to get swallowed up in the “sameness” of everyone else and not stand out.

Additionally, when you are not censoring who you are, then your clients and customers know exactly who they are getting and they already align with your vibe. This will eventually turn into happy buyers or sellers who will refer more business to you. If you’re attracting clients and customers that don’t align with who you are, you’re opening yourself up to bad reviews, no referrals, and making your life harder because you’ll be working with people that you don’t enjoy working with.

So be you no matter who it may repel, because I promise you, you will attract the exact person you want to work with!

Optimize your Instagram Presence

I’m far from a pro on this subject, but that’s why I surround myself with brilliant minds such as Cait, owner at @meraki_media_management who specializes in Instagram . Here are a few takeaways from our recent podcast (link below for the entire episode full of so much goodness!):

Location, location, location - this new feature is a game changer on Insta, especially for realtors, because we are selling in certain locations. Make sure to always mark the location you are selling in - for example the city.

Hashtag batching - do it now and create at least 30 hashtags (I know, I’m shocked too!). On the notes section of your phone build out these clusters so you can copy and paste them every time

Put a little heart and soul into your posts - AKA share the love ❤️, share content that gives back and helps someone by teaching them something new or inspiring them (hence, this post as an example)

Content is KING: tell stories, build trust and credibility! Mix it up by planning out some content with themes and posting on the fly. For example every Tuesday I post a video tour of a home. And don’t forget to share YOU and your life in there - this is the key to building trust!

The crazy schedule of real estate comes in waves (well, sometimes that wave may not stop for years). Often times in this profession we find ourselves working around the clock, first thing in the morning at 6 AM and then burning the midnight oil with no break in between. And I get it, we have to take advantage of those busy times because we don’t know when we’ll get another offer.

Recently I found myself working nonstop around the clock, when I finally poured my glass of wine at 7 o’clock one night I had another email to get to. I was burned out, and it showed in my tone, in my lack of detail, I literally had nothing left.

It is so important to prioritize YOU and sometimes that means letting things roll over to the next day when you are fresh. I stress the importance of this because how you show up becomes your brand. Whether you intend for this to be your brand or not, it will still define you. So if you’ve worked yourself to the bone with no break, you’ll become frustrated and exhausted and the next person you talk to will get the brunt of this.... and the way you talk to them, the lack of attention you give them because you are too busy, the mistakes you make in an offer will define you.

And in the end, your brand is how you make someone feel! XXXX happy branding

Be Unapologetically You

What does it mean when you are living your true authentic self? When you stop looking for people to approve of you, when you stop apologizing for being who you are? What does this look like and what does this feel like and are you doing this now or do you need to check yourself and realize that you’ve spent so much time apologizing for your authentic self?

And this is so important when it comes to branding yourself in real estate. You can use this understanding of your authentic self and living your authentic self to naturally brand you. If the branding you are putting out there is not coming naturally it may be because you are trying to emulate someone else or maybe you’re trying to fit into someone else’s mold.

Know this, some people won’t like the authentic you, BUT some people will absolutely fall in love with the authentic you, and those are the people you want to focus on and those are the people you want to work with!
